Business Intelligence
Dashboard Case Study 1
Challenge
A global company with
manufacturing operations at many sites had a corporate Global Quality
department responsible to oversee quality from all the businesses and sites.
Different sites were pulling data from disparate systems and manually sending
them to the corporate headquarters. The data was difficult to aggregate and
report on a timely basis. A real time Business Intelligence software solution
was needed.
Solution
CPO Consulting studied the
business need and recommended using its “5 C” approach to collect, consolidate,
condense, communicate and collaborate with the data. These metrics are derived
from back end ERP systems and the data are imported into Confluence. The data
are organized and aggregated from all the different sites and divisions, then
presented in a BI dashboard to relevant management teams.
One challenge was that data
from some sites were not in any of the ERP systems, therefore they needed a way
to manually enter that data into the wiki in a controlled fashion. CPO
Consulting recommended the use of frevvo forms as a user-friendly way to
manually enter the data that was not in the existing ERP systems, so it could
be aggregated and reported in the dashboards.
Benefits
This replaced a lengthy
process of sending around spreadsheets to individuals. This system also allows
employees to create collaborative corrective action communities for process improvement.

Dashboard Case Study 2
Challenge
This global company
monitored new product revenue on a monthly basis and needed to see how
different projects were performing. The data came from multiple systems,
including their enterprise-wide Business Intelligence system, portfolio system,
and various manual spreadsheets and reports. The challenge was to automate and
streamline the reporting so more effort could be spent on making better
decisions.
Solution
CPO management consultants
used the Chief Performance Officer “4C” approach of collect, consolidate,
condense and communicate was used for this project. Since the data was in
multiple systems, it was all exported into Microsoft Excel files that could be
consolidated in Microsoft Access database. It could not have been done with the
enterprise wide business intelligence tools, as it required consolidation of
data from multiple sources. The data was exported into Excel and pivot tables
and charts used to condense and report the data.
Benefits
Standardized tables and
charts were presented in multiple management business performance metrics
dashboards, all derived from the “one source of truth” database. This
eliminated confusion around different numbers, and helped focus the discussion
toward strategic knowledge management. The solution was completely customized
and perfectly met the need.
